Down But Never Defeated

After a hard-fought and agonizingly tight battle with the California Golden Bears men’s varsity rugby team, the UBC Thunderbirds were edged out 23-21 in the closing moments to lose the final game of the season and in front of the cheering (albeit suddenly deflated) home crowd at the Thunderbird Arena.

However, dogged hard work pays off and because the ‘Birds had thumped the Bears 19-6 earlier in the year (and on the Bears’ own home turf), the UBC Thunderbirds end the season ahead of their rivals 37-29 in terms of overall aggregate scoring.

Cushioned by the points spread, the Thunderbirds take the 2015 World Cup – and secure what is their second consecutive win.
