A Royal Welcome
Seven University of British Columbia faculty members were inducted into the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). Five professors have been elected Fellows of the Royal Society, the highest honour a scholar can achieve in the arts, humanities and sciences in Canada. Another two were admitted to RSC’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
The new RSC Fellows include: Harvey B. Richer, Department of Physics and Astronomy; Mark MacLachlan, Department of Chemistry; John Klironomos, I.K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences; Michael P. Richards, Department of Anthropology; David Wilkinson, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
The RSC’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists UBC inductees are as follows: David Granville, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; Karen Bakker, Department of Geography.
