Plugging Into Technology, Teaching and the Future
When UBC plugged into edX they joined not only a preeminent non-profit MOOC (massively open online courses) platform, but a community of universities who conduct and share research in how students learn, how instructors teach on and off campus, and a conversation on how to assist in an interactive exchange and use of technology to “transform” the collective learning experience. As a charter member and contributor to edX, UBC joined the university advisory board that serves as the chief advisory body to edX.
Along with programs such as TLEF (Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund), Carl Weiman Science Education Initiative, and Flexible Learning, the “excellent” technically supported and marketed “cleaner and lighter” edX platform sets the stage for new UBCx MOOCs, forums and tools for blended and online courses.
